White balance on a camera means changing your colour temperature warmer or cooler depending on the sort of light your picture has taken. The colour of light will effect the colours in the photo. Our naked eye won't be able to to see this but our minds adapt quickly to show us the photo is neutral light but it is not. For example if you take a picture under incandescent light white balance can reduce the orange ting and boost up a blueish colour to produce more neutral colour. These are the different types of white balance presets you can use these to effect the light colour in your photos.Depending on your camera it should say WB (white balance)when you click this it would come up with these symbols on the camera screen. Also you can use it by setting your camera to the symbol M (manual exposure) this can be done by twisting the button on the top of the camera also known as the mode button or dial.
